Bobby Friction is world renowned for his specialist knowledge of British Asian Music & South Asian music from the Indian / Pakistani Sub-continent.  As a DJ for the last 25 years he’s preached the Desi Music gospel across the continents as well as written about it extensively.  He’s also an accomplished & award-winning broadcaster & documentary maker for Radio & TV specialising in Music, Politics, & Society.

Bobby has also been presenting radio shows on the BBC for the last 23 years across BBC Radio 1 & BBC Asian Network whilst getting numerous awards over that time including three Sony Radio Awards and three Asian Media Awards.

Over the years Bobby has represented the British Asian sound as a DJ all over the world and has built an international reputation as a genre mixing musician, from Asia to the US, and from the Middle East to the whole of Europe. His gigs have included headlining his own outdoor New Year’s Eve party in Bangalore to ten thousand people, playing for Womad in the UK & Singapore, The World Music Festival in Chicago, Burningman Festival as well as regular gigs in San Francisco & L.A. He is also a regular on the European Festival circuit including playing ten different Glastonbury festivals. 

A unique music professional that has a legendary status within Desi music, Bobby is a lover & fighter for British Asian music and Desi Beats worldwide as well as being a brilliant & gifted Documentary maker – but is first and foremost, and will always be, a massive fan of music!
