Jas Kayser is a drummer and bandleader whose work bridges afrobeat, jazz and community. From touring with Jorja Smith and Alfa Mist to leading her own project, Jas Kayser & Chums, she has built a powerful and distinctive presence on the international scene. Her debut EP Jas 5ive (2022) marked a turning point as a bandleader, followed by self-organised tours and growing global recognition.

Now touring worldwide with Lenny Kravitz on the Blue Electric Light world tour, Jas continues to develop new music with her band alongside her international performance work.

After leaving London to study at Berklee College of Music, where she was mentored by Terri Lyne Carrington, Ralph Peterson and Danilo Perez, Jas spent extended time teaching and performing in Panama. This experience deeply shaped her commitment to musical responsibility, collaboration and community-led practice.

Jas Kayser & Chums is known for its infectious energy and joyful live performances, earning a Jazz FM Award, Parliamentary Jazz Award and a MOBO Nomination with widespread support from BBC Radio 2, 3 and 6, as well as Jazz FM.
