Rarely do you see DJs complement each other as seamlessly as Kamma & Masalo. The Amsterdam duo trust each other implicitly behind the decks, sometimes selecting the same track without exchanging a single word, other times boldly pushing each other into deep and unexpected waters. Their sound is shaped by Amsterdam’s school of eclecticism, as well as a deep reverence for the pioneers of dance music. Their fresh perspective bridges the gap between old school and new with euphoric energy.

Kamma & Masalo began playing back-to-back sets and organising house parties in 2014. Those nights evolved into today’s beloved Brighter Days series. Brighter Days reflects the duo’s synergy on the dance floor with lineups that celebrate established artists and emerging talent. Though the parties have come far — from living room raves to sold out clubs — Brighter Days always stays true to its DIY aesthetic, paying particular attention to warm and powerful sound and stage design, and creating a welcoming sense of community.

The pair are also known for their frequent collaborations with Rush Hour, with Masalo releasing New Dance on the label, as well as collaborations with Soichi Terada, Jamie 326, and Palms Trax. Kamma released her track Snow in April on Rush Hour's Rainbow Disco Club compilation. In 2023 they curated the Brighter Days Rush Hour compilation. The comp accompanies their Brighter Days event series, and features rare tracks, music from emerging artists and their own K&M edits.

Both raised in Amsterdam East, Kamma & Masalo experienced a full circle moment when they co-created Amsterdam's first high-fidelity sound bar, Doka. Inspired by multiple visits to listening bars in Japan, Doka features an extensive DJ booth and warm, delicate sound system — a testament to their meticulous approach.

Both artists have mixed heritage, with Kamma being part Chinese-Indonesian and Masalo half Japanese. They share a special connection with dance floors further afield, finding family real and chosen in cultural exchanges across the globe. They’ve captured hearts across Europe and beyond, making festival appearances at Kala, Wonderfruit, Rainbow Disco, Paradise City, Primavera, to name just a few, and tearing down the dance floors of Lux, Womb, Phonox, Potato Head, Basic Club, De School and more. At Dekmantel Festival Kamma & Masalo curated their own stage, inviting a slew of exciting talent with Asian roots to join them in the booth. Where some stars approach the scene in an extractive way, these two don’t just aim to give back, but to build in a joyful and sincere way.
