Join COLA REN as she explores the limits of Teenage Engineering tech with a hybrid trumpet set.
COLA REN is a Guangzhou-based producer, DJ and multidisciplinary artist whose work blends introspection, travel, and observations of humanity. Classically trained in piano and shaped by a background in photography, she approaches sound with a cinematic sensibility—treating rhythm, texture and field recordings as images unfolding in time. Her music moves fluidly between downtempo, ambient, jazz and psychedelic influences, combining organic warmth with intricate rhythmic detail.
Her latest release, Mekong Ballad (2025), marks a new chapter in her evolution. Inspired by rivers and memory, the EP distils her journeys through Southeast Asia into a gentle yet deeply immersive body of work. Building on earlier projects Hailu (2023) and Forest Drone (2024), it brings her voice and narrative instincts into sharper focus.
Her collaborative world continues to expand, working with artists including Al Wootton, Polygonia, Salamanda, K-Lone, Knopha and Mong Tong. Her music has been released across Asia, Europe and the U.S. on labels such as AMWAV, QEONE, Human Pitch and Fandango, gaining support from international DJs and tastemakers. Her work has also been covered by respected writers including Shawn Reynaldo, Philip Sherburne and Joe Delon.
COLA REN has appeared on platforms including Boiler Room, NTS, HÖR, Kiosk Radio and Balamii, and performed at festivals across Asia and Europe, including FFKT, Gampeki and the Nordic Pavilion at World Expo Osaka.
Her genre-crossing, narrative-driven approach offers a distinctive East Asian perspective within the global electronic music landscape.
