Tara Lily Presents Shakti Jazz

Tara Lily Presents Shakti Jazz ✿

Saturday 25th April
93 Feet East Main Bar

Exploring the relationship between ancient South Asian meditation, sonics and spiritual Jazz through improvisation, Shakti Jazz has curated bespoke vinyl DJ sets for the likes of Glastonbury, The Turner Gallery, Delhi Art Week, Brick Lane Jazz Festival and Space Talk. This includes radio shows and residencies on Worldwide FM, NTS, Sister Midnight and The Lot Radio NYC.

Shakti Jazz is founded by musician Tara Lily. The South London-born British-Bengali artist crafts a sound that's uniquely her own—blending jazz, electronica, alt-R&B, and Indian classical influences into genre-defying music rooted in her multicultural upbringing.

Growing up in Peckham as part of a British Bengali family has given Tara Lily a unique perspective on music and global culture. She has spent her life absorbing a multitude of sounds and genres from her surroundings, ranging from electronica to jazz and R&B to traditional Bengali folk music. Her background spans training at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music, where she studied jazz piano and voice, to learning Indian classical music.

It was this intriguing blend of sounds and her deep understanding of the worlds they come from which caught the attention of the likes of Virgil Abloh, Gilles Peterson, Iggy Pop, Jamie Cullum and King Krule.

Her debut album ‘Speak In The Dark’ is an artistic representation of Tara's emotional highs and lows with ADHD. A formidable talent who celebrates strength and power in her music.

Brick Lane Jazz Festival is joining forces with Tomorrow’s Warriors as our charity partner for the 2026 edition of the festival. We have worked together to create a unique opportunity to give back to the music community, having an impactful and lasting effect on the emerging UK Jazz talent. Donate now by clicking below:
