' ZENA are a London-born duo shaped by a shared Ethiopian heritage: keyboardist-producer Yohan Kebede (Kokoroko) and bassist-producer Menelik. Their music carries the warmth of the living rooms it was born in. Ethiopian melodies thread their songwriting, leaning into soul and R&B while catching light from jazz, dub and psychedelic rock. Together, these threads flow into rich soundscapes and earthy rhythms. ZENA bring their roots into dialogue with the traditions they’ve long played, braiding family stories with a rule-breaking edge that’s unmistakably theirs. Following three sold out London headline shows, plus appearances at We Out Here Festival and on NTS Radio, they release their debut single, “Anchi Bale Gamé” on Brownswood Recordings.
