Voices Unheard: Power, Access & Belonging in Music. Presented by Women In Jazz
Thursday 23rd April • 15:30-16:30 • Flow State Hub, Ely’s Yard, E1 6QR
Presented by Women in Jazz and moderated by founder Lou Paley, this panel interrogates the gap between visibility and meaningful support within today’s music industry. While more artists are platformed than ever before, many still lack the infrastructure required to build sustainable careers.
Drawing on lived experience from artists and behind-the-scenes workers, the conversation examines where systems break down in practice — from touring conditions and fee structures to gatekeeping, caregiving responsibilities and long-term wellbeing. The session asks what genuine support looks like beyond symbolic representation, and how power circulates within industry networks.
By centring access, equity and practical resources, the panel moves the conversation beyond surface-level diversity initiatives towards structural change. It offers a critical space to reflect on how belonging is built — and what must shift for support to become tangible, consistent and sustainable.
